Talks and field trip programme for 2026

​Our varied and interesting talks are held in
Leyburn Methodist Hall DL8 5BB. (mostly)Last Friday of the month. Starting 7.30pm Followed by tea, coffee and a friendly chat.
Under 16s must be accompanied by a guardian.
All events are free to members. Non-members £5.00 (please bring a £5 note)​

If you wish to join the fee is £15.00. This can be done at any of the events below. Please endeavour to help us by printing out and completing a membership form (to print membership form, click here) Please bring it along with your £15.00 cash. If you join on the day this will include the fee for the event you are attending.

PLEASE HELP YNHS BY RENEWING YOUR £15 fee by STANDING ORDER yearly on 2nd January irrespective of the date you joined. The standing order bank transfer details are on the membership form above.

About two miles from Wensley Bridge to Lord’s Bridge, with optional lunch afterwards at The Three Horseshoes.

Wednesday 6th May: A visit to discover and identify the flora and fauna in the vicinity of Masham Golf Club

Saturday 16th May: Thornborough Cider.
A visit to this local five-acre orchard where a small range of natural ciders are produced with pure apple juice, wild fermentation and patience. The orchard is managed in harmony with nature, promoting biodiversity and ecological resilience. Kingsley will accompany us for a walk from the cider shed to see the trees in blossom and to talk through the varieties, planting and management.
Afterwards, it will be possible to enjoy a quick taste and an opportunity, for those who wish to buy.

A botanically rich Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Reserve, to include Fragrant Orchids.

Friday 24th July with reserve date of 7th August *(please check TBC) Dragonflies.
A joint three-hour visit with YDG and BDS members, to be led by County Dragonfly Recorder, Keith Gittens. Terrain is
easy gravel paths. Around fifteen species of dragonfly have been recorded here.

Saturday 15th August: Glade Trust Nature Reserve.
A two-hour session with Roger Foreman, Manager of this small local nature reserve formed in 2007. He plans a demonstration of bird ringing and a guided tour of the site. Coffee/tea and biscuits will be available for £1
