Yoredale Natural History Society talks 2024/25

​

​Our varied and interesting talks are held in
Leyburn Methodist Hall DL8 5BB. (mostly)Last Friday of the month. Starting 7.30pm Followed by tea, coffee and a friendly chat.

Under 16s must be accompanied by a guardian.
All events are free to members. Non-members £5.00 (please bring a £5 note)

If you wish to join the fee is £15.00. This can be done at any of the events below. Please endeavour to help us by printing out and completing a membership form and bringing it along with your £15.00 cash. If you join on the day this will include the fee for the event you are attending.

YNHS FIELD TRIPS 2025

FRIDAY 20th JUNE

Gunnerside Bottoms for a one mile plus walk through hay meadows of Swaledale, followed by Len Pastures, a Natural England Site.

Meet at 14:00 in Gunnerside Village, DL11 6LA,

Afterwards, drive and park at lay-by, Grid Ref: SD 979 977, for a walk of just over a half mile to Len Pastures to hopefully see Small White and Butterfly Orchids.

SUNDAY 29th JUNE

South Gare, a guided tour with Dave Barlow, County Recorder VC62, to look at incredible botany - a large number of coastal plants within a patchwork of many different habitats. Bring a picnic.

FRIDAY 11th JULY

Weybeck Pasture, near Arnecliffe. A second opportunity to visit this wonderful site. This time, a few hundred Fragrant Orchid, a few hundred Marsh Helleborine, plus other flowers and butterflies. Described by YWT as “Botanical Heaven”- on last year’s field trip in early July, it was.
