The Yoredale Natural History Society

Yoredale is the traditional name for Wensleydale

The Society was founded in 1979, with the aim of "promoting an interest in and an appreciation of natural history, with particular reference to Wensleydale"

During the summer months there are around 15 outdoor field visits, mainly to local wildlife hotspots

Members abilities range from beginner to full time working wildlife professionals


Help and guidance is available for those wishing to learn more about most aspects of wildlife.


The Society publishes a Bulletin each year,usually in February, to report on our activities in the previous year


There is also a programme of winter lectures, usually on the fourth Friday in the month,at the Methodist Church Hall, Leyburn


New members are very welcome


  The current annual subscription is £10
(Students £5; under 16s £5)
